On August 20, 1971 the Master Plumbers Association of Greater Springfield became the Mechanical Contractors Association of Greater Springfield with the following purpose:

• To promote better relations between private owners and public organizations, their architects or engineers, on the one hand, and mechanical and plumbing contractors on the other
• To maintain high professional standards in the conduct of work
• To encourage efficiency among mechanical and plumbing contractors
• To encourage sound business methods tending to raise the standing of contractors generally in the business world
• To strive for harmonious and economically justifiable relations with employees
• To provide for affiliation with the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, the Mechanical Service Contractors of America and/or other national organizations and to further the objects of said national associations as set forth in their constitutions and bylaws
• To promote the recognition and exercise of the right of employers to bargain collectively
• To promote sound labor relations on the basis of labor and management cooperation in the public interest, and to negotiate, enter into, and assist in the administration of labor agreements
• To establish and maintain friendly relations between mechanical and plumbing contractors and all other branches of the mechanical and plumbing industries
• To educate the public in the necessity for safe and sound plumbing and mechanical installations
• To furnish its regular and associate members with the services of collective bargaining for agreements with various labor organizations representing employees of the members, which services are intended to produce strength through unity at the bargaining table by adopting common goals, strategy and procedures.
